LABA LIVE helps you run live translated events. We collect what we need to run your account and sessions, we do not store raw speaker audio recordings, and anyone with a session link can read that session’s captions.
The short version
- We process live speech to produce translations in real time.
- We do not save speaker audio recordings in LABA LIVE.
- Final caption text is stored in our database as a session backup.
- Listen mode may send caption text to Azure for clear voice playback; device voice stays on your phone.
- Optional Smart script extract may send script or notes text to Azure OpenAI; only terms you confirm are saved.
- Session links work like unlisted URLs — anyone with the link can view that session.
- We use infrastructure partners (Azure, Supabase, Fly.io, Stripe) to run the service.
- We do not use your content to train our own AI models.
Who we are
LABA LIVE (“we”, “us”) provides a web platform for real-time speech translation at live events. If you have questions about this policy, email us at hi@laba.live.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use LABA LIVE, we may collect:
- Account information — email address, name, and organization details when you sign up or update your profile.
- Session details — session title, languages, timing, plan settings, and related organization configuration.
- Live captions — recognized source text and translations for final speech segments.
- Vocabulary entries — recognition vocabulary and translation glossary phrases your organization adds.
- Script text for Smart extract — when you run Smart script extract, pasted or uploaded script/notes text is sent for processing to suggest vocabulary and translation idioms. The full script is not stored in LABA LIVE; only terms you confirm are saved.
- Usage meters — live audio duration, attendee delivery, spoken-language (clear voice) hours, Smart extract counts, and related dashboard estimates.
- Billing metadata — plan selection, billing currency, and Stripe customer/subscription identifiers (not full card numbers).
- Support messages — subjects and message bodies you send through in-app support, including optional business or tax-invoice details you choose to provide.
- Organization tax invoice profile — optional Korean business details (registration number, name, representative, address, invoice email) you save for 세금계산서 requests.
- Technical data — connection and presence signals (for example a pseudonymous client id and latency samples) to show live stats and keep the feed reliable.
- Optional public reviews — if you submit a customer review, the quote, display name, and role you provide may be published on our site after review.
Audio, captions, and listen mode
When a speaker starts live capture, audio is streamed from the browser to Microsoft Azure Speech for recognition and translation. LABA LIVE does not store raw speaker audio recordings. Processing happens in real time to deliver captions to attendees.
Attendees may enable listen mode. Clear voice sends final caption text (not the speaker’s microphone audio) to Microsoft Azure text-to-speech so attendees can hear translated captions. Device voice uses the phone’s built-in speech synthesis and stays on the device. Synthesized clear-voice audio is generated for playback and is not kept as a permanent session recording in LABA LIVE.
Customer content is processed by our subprocessors under their own terms so we can provide the service. We do not use your event content to train LABA LIVE’s own AI models through our application.
Script import and Smart extract
Organizers may upload or paste a script, outline, or notes to suggest recognition vocabulary and optional translation glossary idioms. Files are read in your browser. Basic extract runs on-device heuristics and does not send the script text to an AI model.
Smart extract, when available on your plan and you choose to use it, sends the script text to Microsoft Azure OpenAI to propose candidates. You review suggestions before saving. Only the phrases and meanings you confirm are stored as vocabulary or glossary entries. We do not keep the full uploaded script as a permanent document in LABA LIVE.
How session links work
Each live session has a unique link you can share with attendees. Anyone who has that link can open the session and read its live captions, stored transcript segments, and related session presence data for that session. Treat session links like unlisted share URLs — share them only with people you intend to include.
Optional passcode protection for attendee links is on our roadmap but is not available yet.
Account emails
We use your email address to send account messages such as sign-up confirmation and password reset. Those messages are delivered through Supabase Auth. Reset and confirmation links expire according to our auth provider settings.
Service providers we use
We use service providers to run LABA LIVE — including Microsoft Azure (speech recognition, translation, text-to-speech, and Azure OpenAI for optional Smart script extract), Azure Web PubSub (live captions), Supabase (auth and database), Fly.io (app hosting), and Stripe (paid subscriptions). They process data for us under their own terms.
How long we keep information
We keep account, session, support, and billing metadata for as long as your organization uses LABA LIVE and as needed to provide the service, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Transcript backups remain associated with a session until deleted. Self-serve transcript deletion and retention controls are planned; contact us if you need data removed sooner.
Your choices
- Contact us at hi@laba.live to ask what data we hold about your organization or to request deletion.
- Sign out and stop using the service at any time.
- Be careful who receives session links — they grant read access to live and stored captions for that session.
- Prefer Basic extract if you do not want script text sent to Azure OpenAI for Smart extract.
- Manage paid subscriptions through Billing (Stripe customer portal) when a subscription is active.
Children
LABA LIVE is intended for organizations running live events. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we make meaningful changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of LABA LIVE after changes means you accept the updated policy.
