Translation glossary
Fix idioms after machine translation — manually or with Smart extract suggestions from a script.
When to use it
Recognition vocabulary helps the mic hear the right words. Translation glossary helps attendees read the right meaning when machine translation would be too literal — idioms, ministry phrases, product names, or regional expressions.
Glossary rules run after Azure translates each caption. They do not retrain the translation model — they replace or rewrite matched phrases in the output your audience sees.
Managing phrases
- 1Open Vocabulary from the dashboard and scroll to Translation glossary.
- 2Add a source phrase (what the speaker might say) and how it should read in each target language.
- 3Phrases apply automatically during live sessions for your organization.
- Source phrases from the translation glossary are also fed into recognition to help hear idioms correctly.
- Keep entries short and specific — one idiom or expression per row works best.
- Test during rehearsal; add entries when you spot a recurring bad translation.
Suggest idioms from a script
On Vocabulary → Import from script, choose Smart extract and turn on Also suggest translation idioms. Pick up to four meaning languages. Smart uses the same monthly credit as recognition extract and drafts source phrases plus meanings for you to edit.
- 1Run Smart extract on your notes or manuscript.
- 2Review recognition chips and save the ones you want to vocabulary.
- 3Edit idiom meanings if needed, then save selected idioms to the translation glossary.
If Smart is unavailable or you are out of allowance, use Basic for recognition and add idioms manually in Translation glossary.
